Iran’s Fanavaran acetic acid unit shut on technical problems

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Fanavaran Petrochemical Co unexpectedly shut its 150,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant in Bandar Imam on 4 May due to a technical problem, a company official said on Thursday.

The official did not provide further details but added that the plant was likely to remain shut for at least a month.

The plant was running at around 73% of capacity before the outage. The plant last experienced a six-day outage in early April.

Major acetic acid producers in Asia include Celanese, BP, Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing, CPDC, GNFC and Daicel Chemical Industries.
