India levies anti-dumping duty on Chinese plastics machinery

NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India has imposed a company-specific provisional anti-dumping duty (ADD) on plastic-processing machinery of Chinese origin with immediate effect, a government official said on Wednesday.

The ADD applied to injection moulding machines “having clamping force not less than 40 tonnes”. The tariff was specified as a percentage of the cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value of the imported machinery.

The level of ADD enforced by the Finance Ministry varied from 76% to 223%, in line with the anti-dumping authority's (ADA’s) preliminary recommendations.

The ADA had last year initiated an anti-dumping investigation following a petition from L&T Demag Plastic Machinery.

Plastic-processing machinery is used in the production of various products for the automobile, electronics and packaging industries.
