HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US biodiesel producer Innovation Fuels opened a sales and distribution terminal in the midwest to extend its sales reach past its New York home base, the company said on Thursday.

Innovation said its 45,000-tonne port of Milwaukee terminal will be the first in the country exclusively dedicated to renewable fuel sales and distribution.

“This signifies only the beginning of using this facility as an actual renewable fuels hub in the midwest,” said Richard Sawall, the company’s senior vice president for midwest operations. “We expect to announce plans for additional capabilities including biodiesel blending very shortly.”

Innovation operates a 40m gal/year (151m litres/year) biodiesel refinery in Newark, New Jersey. The company mainly supplies the heating oil market in the New York region.
