HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US isobutanol (IBA) production was 36.2m lb (16,420 tonnes) in the first quarter, down 22% from the same period a year earlier, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) said on Thursday.
Slumping IBA prices and weak demand - both pulled down by the depressed automotive and construction sectors - prompted producers to cut output rates.
The NPRA data was compiled from four US IBA producers: BASF, Dow Chemical, Eastman and Oxea.
