SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--A hydrofluoric acid leak has killed one worker at a plant that is operated by a subsidiary of the Juhua Group in Quzhou, in eastern Zhejiang province, a company source said on Friday.
The worker at Zhejiang Kaisn Fluorochemical Co died from serious injuries after a soft pipeline between a tank car and a storage tank cracked, the Juhua source said.
Around 120 residents of a nearby village were sickened after smelling toxic gas that drifted from the plant, according to the source.
However, the source declined to say whether the company’s production had been affected.
“The local air quality has already recovered to normal level yesterday according to the monitor result of local environmental department,” the source said.
Zhejiang Kaisn Fluorochemical Co is engaged in the research, development, production and trade of fluorochemical products.
