SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) producer Amoco Mitsui Indonesia (AMI) has postponed a plan to idle its 460,000 tonne/year plant for about ten days to October from June, a company source said late on Thursday.
“The shutdown would now be in October, as demand from [the downstream market] remains very strong, we need to keep supplying,” said the source, adding that the exact dates of the turnaround would be decided later.
The Merak plant on Java island is a joint venture between PTA majors BP and Mitsui Chemicals.
