LONDON (ICIS news)--Uhde has won a contract to build a low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant for Qatar Petrochemicals Co (QAPCO), the German engineering company said on Monday.

The proposed 300,000 tonne/year facility in Mesaieed, Qatar, was expected to be completed in December 2011.

Uhde would handle basic and detail engineering, project management, supply of equipment and materials as well as the construction work at the project in a contract worth $550m (€396m).

Producing LDPE pellets for a wide range of applications, the plant would be integrated into the polyethylene production area at QAPCO’s petrochemicals complex at Mesaieed, Uhde added.

QAPCO is a joint venture between Industries Qatar and Total Petrochemicals.
