SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Arkema plans to shut its high-content ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer plant located in Balan, France for a five-week maintenance shutdown in mid-August, an official from the French specialty chemicals producer said on Tuesday.
Operations at the plant were expected to resume by late September, he said.
The factory is currently operating at full capacity and the shutdown was expected to result in two months’ worth of production losses, he said.
“Basically, we will have about one month’s production to be spread out over four months’ sales period,” he added.
In previous reports, Arkema had said that the plant has the capacity to supply 35% of the European high-content EVA market and to export 30% of its production outside ?xml:namespace>
