US retail gasoline prices surge 10 cents/gal - EIA

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--The national average price for regular-grade retail gasoline rose by 10 cents, or about 4%, to $2.624/gal for the week ended 5 June, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Tuesday.

The price hike followed six weeks of continuous rises in retail gasoline rates as refiners retooled their plants to increase supply for the summer driving season, the EIA said.

At this time last year, retail gasoline prices for regular-grade were 54% higher at $4.039/gal.
