LONDON (ICIS news)--Syngenta has acquired US crop protection company Circle One Global for an undisclosed sum, the Switzerland-based agrochemicals group said on Thursday.

Based in Georgia, Circle One Global markets products aimed at reducing aflatoxin, a toxin that can develop in crops such as corn and peanuts, particularly during heat and drought stress.

Syngenta said aflatoxin costs US corn and peanut farmers more than $200m (€144m) annually.

The company planned to apply for the extension of Circle One Group’s Afla-Guard technology for use in other crops and seek registration outside the US market.
