US May DAP exports rise 50% on strong India shipments - TFI

LONDON (ICIS news)--US exports of diammonium phosphate (DAP) in May were up 50% from the same month of 2008 due to sizeable shipments to India, data from The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) revealed on Tuesday.

DAP exports totalled 669,190 short tons in May, with India accounting for 465,816 short tons, or 70%, of the total.

Other commitments included a DAP Panamax shipment to China and 35,100 short tons to Pakistan.

Around 90,000 tonnes of DAP were exported to central and Latin American countries in May, according to the figures.

US monoammonium phosphate (MAP) exports in May were 97,673 short tons, down 57% from May 2008.

The main recipient US MAP was Canada, with 40,332 short tons, or 41% of the total. Brazil followed with 27,780 short tons, or 28% of the total.
