SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Four people were injured from late Tuesday’s blast at China’s Nantong Acetic Acid Chemical plant in Jiangsu province, a company source said on Wednesday.

The explosion came from the company’s tank that was storing around two tonnes of toxic chemical methanol, mildly poisoning the workers at the plant, the source said.

“All the four injured people [at the] hospital are not in danger now. The reason for the blast is under investigation,” he added.

Nantong Acetic Acid Chemical produces over 30 varieties of chemical products from organic raw materials to pharmaceutical intermediates, to dye and pigment intermediates, to food and feed additives.
