India extends anti-dumping duty on caprolactam imports

NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India has extended the validity of anti-dumping duty (ADD) on caprolactam imports from Japan, the EU, Nigeria and Thailand by around six months to 20 April 2010, a government official said on Wednesday.

The existing five-year ADD was valid to 16 November 2009. The decision to extend the tenure of this reference price-based tariff was taken at the recommendation of the anti-dumping authority (ADA), the official said.

ADA had initiated a review of ADD on 21 April 2009 and sought time to submit its findings.

Domestic producers of caprolactam are Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (GSFC) and Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT).

Caprolactam serves as a monomer for production of nylon-6.
