S Korea's Kumho P&B runs Yeocheon phenol-acetone units at 70%

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s largest phenol-acetone producer, Kumho P&B Chemicals, has been running its No 2 and No 3 lines in Yeocheon at 70% since 24 June due to mechanical problems, a company official said on Monday.

Normal operations might resume by the end of this week, the source said.

The No 2 line can produce 100,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 60,000 tonnes/year of acetone, and the No 3 line has a nameplate capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 155,000 tonnes/year of acetone.

Kumho’s No 1 line, which can produce 30,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 20,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was idle and would only operate occasionally depending on market conditions, the source said.
