The NYMEX WTI (West Texas Intermediate) crude contract for August delivery settled down $1.60/bbl on lower consumer confidence figures and a stronger dollar. Spot benzene in the US Gulf slipped to $2.85-2.92/gal following the settlement of July contracts at the upper end of this range. The lower spot price compares with $2.90-2.95/gal FOB (free on board) on Monday.
