NEW YORK (ICIS news)--Eastman Chemical introduced a non-phthalate plasticiser in the EU, the US-based company said on Wednesday.
Called Eastman DBT, the plasticiser is suitable for use in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastisols and water-based adhesive applications, the company said.
The product has already been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in some food-contact applications, according to Eastman.
Eastman DBT will fill a void being created by restrictions on fast-fusing phthalate plasticisers, Eastman said.
“Eastman is meeting the need for a non-phthalate plasticiser to meet Europe’s evolving regulatory landscape,” said Steve Cullen, Eastman’s business manager for plasticisers.
