HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Kronos will raise North American titanium dioxide (TiO2) prices by 3 cents/lb ($66/tonne, €47/tonne) effective on 1 August, the US-based producer said on Friday.

The move comes while a 4 cents/lb increase initiative proposed on 5 May is still being implemented, Kronos said.

Buyers, however, have previously indicated that soft downstream demand for TiO2 could undermine sellers’ efforts to boost pigment prices this summer.

North American TiO2 prices were 109-119 cents/lb, according to data from global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.

Other TiO2 producers include DuPont, Tronox, Cristal Global and Huntsman.
