Foskor H2 sulphur contracts down $15/tLONDON (ICIS news)--Foskor, a leading South African phosphoric acid producer, has agreed second-half 2009 sulphur contracts with its Canadian suppliers at decreases of around $15/tonne (€11/tonne) from the first half of the year, a company official said on Monday.

The official said that the contract price was confidential, but prices were indicated in the high $20s/tonne-low $30s/tonne FOB (free on board) Vancouver.

First-half 2009 contracts were agreed in the mid-$40s/tonne FOB Vancouver.

The lower agreements were in line with contract settlements elsewhere, with Middle East tonnes being agreed in North Africa at decreases of around $10/tonne for the second half.

Freight from Vancouver to South Africa is estimated at around $30/tonne, reflecting a landed price of around $60/tonne CFR (cost and freight) for July-December 2009.

Foskor has two phosphoric acid plants at Richards Bay, on South Africa's east coast, with a combined production capacity of 750,000 tonnes.
