US June DAP exports jumped 14% - Fertilizer Institute

LONDON (ICIS news)--US exports of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer reached 628,722 short tons in June, up 14% on the same month in 2008, data from the Fertilizer Institute (TFI) revealed on Friday.

India accounted for 66% of the total with 412,112 short tons, followed by Mexico with 38,846 short tons, Turkey with 28,600 short tons and Uruguay with 25,462 short tons. With the exception of 12,892 short tons for Japan and 17,300 tonnes for Kenya, Latin America accounted for all other DAP exports, the data showed.

Monoammonium phosphate (MAP) fertilizer exports reached 114,351 short tons, up 4% on the same month of 2008.

The main recipient was Brazil, which took 61,840 short tons (54%). This was followed by Canada, which took 22,574 short tons, and Japan, which imported 12,645 short tons.
