Worker hospitalised following Citgo refinery fire in Texas

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A worker at Citgo's Corpus Christi refinery in Texas was hospitalised after a fire started in the hydrogen flouride alkylation unit, the US Chemical Safety Board (CSB) said on Monday.

The fire at the 163,000 bbl/day refinery started on the morning of 19 July, according to a statement from the CSB.

The worker was transported by air to a burn centre in San Antonio, the CSB said.

The alkylation unit has reportedly been shut down.

The CSB said it has sent an investigative team to the site to assess the situation.
