HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazil’s ethanol prices fell in the week ended 17 July after a supply build snapped a five-week uptrend in the local spot market, Brazilian research group CEPEA said on Tuesday.

CEPEA assessed hydrous ethanol at Brazilian reais (R) 0.7166/litre ($1.42/gal) last week, down by 1.6% from R0.7283/litre in the week ended 10 July.

Anhydrous ethanol was assessed at R0.8110/litre, down by 1.5% from R0.8237/litre a week earlier.

Brazil uses hydrous ethanol as a stand-alone fuel and blends anhydrous in gasoline at 25%.

CEPEA’s price assessments are ex-tank and do not include taxes.
