SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China’s Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co shut its 350,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Yizheng, in Jiangsu province, on 25 July for a 20-day turnaround, a company official said on Monday.
"The shutdown is for regular maintenance," the official said.
The firm’s 550,000 tonne/year PTA facility at the same site was running at above 100%, the official added.
The company’s PTA is mainly for captive use by its downstream bottle-grade polyethylene terephthlate (PET) and polyester units.
The shutdown was not expected to disrupt supplies to the downstream facilities, as the company had enough inventories, the official said.
Yizheng, a subsidiary of Chinese petrochemical major Sinopec, is China's largest polyester and PET producer.
