Russia's H1 petrochemical imports, exports down

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia's January-June 2009 imports of petrochemical products were down 40.1% year on year at $5.4bn (€3.8bn), the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The country's first-half petrochemical exports were down 47.7% at $6.0bn, the statement added.

Subsequently, Russia's petrochemical foreign trade surplus was down to $0.6bn from $2.5bn in the first half of 2008, the statement said.

For January-June 2009, mineral fertilizers accounted for 47% of Russia's petrochemical exports, according to the statement.
