SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Domestic non-oil grade 1502 styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) prices in China soared by more than yuan (CNY) 500/tonne ($73/tonne) this week due to escalating feedstock butadiene (BD) costs, traders and producers said.
The domestic feedstock BD price had spiked to CNY9,500/tonne, up more than CNY2,000/tonne in the past month, which in turn lifted non-oil grade 1502 SBR prices to CNY13,000-13,200/tonne ex-warehouse, traders said.
“We have no choice but to increase our SBR price due to the high feedstock BD cost,” a Chinese SBR producer said.
