Iran’s Amir Kabir delays LDPE start-up to early 2010

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran's Amir Kabir Petrochemical Co has delayed the start-up of its 300,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Bandar Imam by six months to early 2010, a source close to the project said on Tuesday.

"The plant was originally scheduled to start up by July 2009, but the schedule had to be revised because of a delay in delivery of equipment," the source said.

Ethylene feedstock for the plant is being sourced from Amir Kabir’s 520,000 tonne/year ethane cracker.

Amir Kabir officials were not available for comment.

Amir Kabir, a subsidiary of Iran’s National Petrochemical Co, currently operates a 300,000 tonne/year high density PE/linear low density PE (HDPE/LLDPE) unit and a 160,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit at Bandar Imam.
