TORONTO (ICIS news)--WR Grace has opened a new specialties plant for construction chemicals at Chennai, India, the US-based producer said on Wednesday.

The plant was completed in June and was already running full commercial production batches, Grace said. The company began developing the project in December last year.

The facility was currently producing cement additives and in coming months would also start producing admixtures for use in the production of concrete, Grace said, without disclosing capacities or investment details.

India is one of the world’s largest cement-producing nations and a natural location for us to invest in our global network,” said Greg Freeman, vice president and general manager for Grace Construction Products, Europe.
