India to probe alleged phenol dumping by Japan, Thailand

NEW DELHI (ICIS news) -- India would start investigating the domestic phenol industry’s demand to levy anti-dumping duty (ADD) on imports from Japan and Thailand, industry sources said on Friday.
The anti-dumping authority (ADA) decided on 11 August to initiate the probe following a petition from public sector enterprise Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOC).
The country’s only other phenol producer, SI Group-India Limited (SIGIL), has supported the petition. SIGIL is a subsidiary of SI Group of the US.
The ADA has asked all domestic consumers of phenol as well as Japanese and Thai exporters and other interested entities to submit their responses to the initiation notification by 20 September.
