SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Arya Sasol plans to restart its polyethylene (PE) plants at Assaluyeh on 29 August following a three-week outage, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

“The plants were shut down in early August due to a problem at the central utilities unit at Assaluyeh,” the source said.

Arya Sasol’s 1m tonne/year ethane cracker at Assaluyeh, from which the PE plants source ethylene feedstock, restarted on 15 August following a planned turnaround.

Arya Sasol’s PE facility includes a 300,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant and a 300,000 tonne/year high density PE (HDPE)/medium density PE (MDPE) swing plant.

Arya Sasol is a 50:50 joint venture between South Africa’s Sasol and Iran’s National Petrochemical Co.
