The $20bn (€14bn) complex in Saudi Arabia will include 35 units, according to Adil Al-Tubayyeb, vice president of the Ras Tanura Integrated Refining and Petrochemicals project.
“The project represents the world’s largest grassroots plastics and chemicals production complex to be developed at one time,” he added.
The project is still in the engineering and design phase, which should be completed in 2010, Saudi Aramco said.
The complex is expected to start up in 2015, according to the company.
