SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Indonesia’s state-owned energy major Pertamina plans to shut its aromatics unit at Cilacap, Java, for a scheduled 15-day turnaround in October, a company source said on Wednesday.
The maintenance would begin from 1 October, the source said.
The Cilacap aromatics unit has been operating at 80% capacity since mid-August, when it experienced technical problems resulting from the input of feedstock naphtha into the distillation unit.
The facility produces 125,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 275,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX).
Other aromatics producers in southeast Asia include Petrochemical Corp of Singapore (PCS) in Singapore and Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) in Indonesia.
