SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan's Chang Chun Petrochemical has started production at its new 135,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) line in Kaohsiung ahead of schedule, a company official said on Thursday.

"We started the new line late last week and we will wait to see how the market situation is before running the plant at full rates," the source said in Mandarin.

The source did not specify the current rate of production of the new line.

The start up of the new line, originally scheduled to begin in early September, has brought ChangChun’s total BPA nameplate capacity to 270,000 tonnes/year.

Other BPA producers in Taiwan include Taiwan Prosperity Chemicals Corp and Nan Ya Plastics.
