LONDON (ICIS news)--Jordan’s Arab Potash Company (APC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesian fertilizer producer Kaltim to supply potash beginning next year, the company announced on Thursday.

The memorandum, which was signed at APC’s offices in Amman, states that APC will supply up to 150,000 tonnes of potash during 2010 and 2011 as Kaltim’s new compound fertilizer plants come on stream.

The capacities of these plants were not stated. First shipments were expected to take place in early 2010.

The memorandum was signed by the president director of Kaltim, Hidayat Nyakman, and by APC’s general manager Michael Hogan.

APC produces potash through solar evaporation in the Dead Sea.

At present its capacity is 1.9m tonnes/year, but this is being increased to 2.4m tonnes/year in 2010.
