LONDON (ICIS news)--Yuzhny ammonia exports totalled 177,900 tonnes in August, up nearly 60,000 tonnes from the 118,258 tonnes shipped in July, according to customs data released on Monday.

Shipments from the Black Sea port totalled 184,345 tonnes in August 2008.

Exports of Russian ammonia reached 164,900 tonnes, up from 100,277 tonnes in July.

Ukrainian ammonia shipments in August totalled 13,000 tonnes, down from 17,981 tonnes the previous month.

The main export destination of Yuzhny ammonia in August was Turkey, with 61,300 tonnes, compared with 42,391 tonnes in July.

Other export destinations were Morocco (41,005 tonnes), the US (37,872 tonnes) and Tunisia (37,724 tonnes).

Shipments from Yuzhny have picked up due to strong demand and higher international prices.

Yuzhny is a major trading port in the Black Sea, while Ukraine and Russia are major ammonia trading sources owing to their large natural gas reserves.
