HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Joseph Acker will retire as president and CEO of the US-based Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA), effective in December, the group said on Wednesday.
Acker worked with the group for 16 years and was appointed president in 2003.
The group credited Acker with raising its profile in Washington DC while solidifying key alliances with regulatory agencies, growing an international membership base and encouraging all members to take a more active role in SOCMA lobbying efforts.
Acker was twice voted an ICIS top 40 industry power player.
SOCMA said it would consider new candidates for the position.
