SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Formosa-Idemitsu Petrochemical (FIPC) plans to restart its 195,000 tonne/year polycarbonate (PC) plant at Mailiao, Taiwan, on 1 October following a scheduled maintenance shutdown, a company source said on Wednesday.

"The plant was taken off line early last week," the source said, adding that the company had suspended offers for September PC cargoes due to tight availability.

The plant has three lines. The No 1 and No 2 lines have a capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year each, while the No 3 line can produce 75,000 tonnes/year of PC.

FIPC is a joint venture between Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) and Japan’s Idemitsu Corp.
