HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A Schulman is expanding its engineered plastics production capacity by about 5m pounds (2,268 tonnes) at its facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the plastic compounds and resins producer said on Monday.
The new capacity will be focused on specialty engineered nylons, polyesters and high-performance alloys, the company said.
The added capacity is expected to come online during the second quarter of fiscal 2010, A Schulman said.
“The added capacity illustrates A Schulmann’s commitment to better serve our customers’ needs in the Americas and will move our company closer to our strategic goal of becoming a leading engineered plastics supplier in selected market niches,” said Gustavo Perez, A Schulman general manager in Mexico and Latin America.
The company did not reveal the facility's current capacity. An ICIS article from 2003 said its capacity was 2,300 tonnes/year.
