SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thailand’s TPI Polene is targeting to restart its 158,000 tonne/year ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Mab Ta Phut late this month after a three-week maintenance turnaround, a company official said on Tuesday.

“We are hoping to restart the plant by late September as scheduled but some replacement parts have yet to arrive so we are not very sure,” he added.

Demand for general purpose 18% VA content EVA from downstream footwear industry was currently slow in a quiet market, the official said.

The market may pick up in the latter half of October after the week-long National Holiday in China on 1-8 October, he added.
