China to extend anti-dumping duties on PVC imports

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China plans to extend the anti-dumping duties (ADDs) imposed on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) imports from Japan, Korea, Russia, Taiwan and the US for another five years from 29 September, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Monday.

Chinese PVC producers had petitioned for an extension after the previous five-year ADDs expired in September 2008, the statement said.

After a year-long investigation, the ministry concluded that the Chinese PVC industry would be severely damaged without an ADD regime to limit the influx of competitively priced imports.

Imports from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the US constituted 63% of China's PVC imports, a total of 1.25m tonnes, in the first seven months of this year, according to data from China Customs.

The ADDs would remain unchanged from the previous regime as below:
