SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Leading Synthetics, the sole polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer in Australia, ramped up operating rates at its 70,000 tonne/year plant to 100% last week due to increasing domestic demand, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant, which is located at Melbourne, had been running at a reduced rate of 80% since mid-August due to high feedstock costs as well as weak business conditions in the PET market, according to the source.
