LONDON (ICIS news)--An initial European orthoxylene (OX) contract price for October has been agreed at €615/tonne ($904/tonne), down €45/tonne from the previous month due to low demand, a buyer said on Thursday.

The contract was settled on a free on board (FOB) northwest Europe (NWE) basis.

“Demand is still very low in Europe,” the buyer said. “We initially proposed a decrease of €50/tonne and the supplier pushed for €40/tonne, so eventually we came to a compromise.”

Further confirmation from other market players was pending.
