Japan’s August ethylene exports up 41% year on year

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan exported 217,700 tonnes of ethylene in August, a 40.6% increase from the same period last year, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said on Friday.

August’s total was, however, down 2.1% from the previous month, the ministry said.

Japan’s August imports of ethylene increased by 7.3% year on year at 33,800 tonnes, but were down 22% from July, the METI said.

Japan produced 628,261 tonnes of ethylene in August, a 13.4% increase month on month and a 3.7% increase year on year, according to the METI.
