SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s largest refiner, Nippon Oil Corp, plans to delay the restart of its olefin conversion unit (OCU) in Kawasaki by three days to 19 October after a scheduled maintenance shutdown, a company source said on Thursday.

The OCU unit can produce 140,000 tonnes/year of propylene and was shut as scheduled on 23 September.

Nippon Oil is Japan’s largest propylene exporter by volume, with product also made from its 450,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Kawasaki and fluidised catalytic crackers (FCC) around the country. Most exports from the company head to China, the largest importer of propylene in Asia.
