European soda ash prices have been under pressure for most of the year due to imported material arriving from eastern Europe, China and Turkey.

“We have been producing since July and have been running at almost full rates. It is unlikely that prices would soften before the end of the year considering as there has been little change in the market since then,” a source close to the company said.
European production, for the most part, has been cut back since late in the first quarter due to weak demand, according to sources.
“Pretty much all European producers are running at around 80% [capacity],” a seller commented.
Light and dense soda ash prices currently stand at $205-225/tonne (€137-151/tonne) FOB (free on board)
