HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazil’s ethanol group Cosan said on Friday that its chief executive, Rubens Ometto, has stepped down to spend more time focusing on the company’s business strategy.

The executive will remain as Cosan’s chairman of the board, a spokesperson said.

Cosan said logistics and commercial vice president Marcos Lutz would replace Ometto as chief executive, effective 1 November.

Cosan is one of the world’s largest sugar and ethanol producers.

The company also became a top fuel retailer in Brazil after acquiring ExxonMobil’s local distribution network in April 2008.
