China’s Huajin Tongda Chem delays cracker start-up to year end

GUANGZHOU (ICIS news)--China’s Huajin Tongda Chemicals will delay the start-up of its new 450,000 tonne/year cracker at Panjin in the northeastern province of Liaoning to the year end from the earlier target of end-September, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company wanted to wait for operations at the new 5m tonne/year refining unit that was commissioned last month to become stable before starting the new cracker, the source added.

The company was also planning to expand its refining capacity to 8m tonne/year in the next 2-3 years, the source said, adding that a proposal on the expansion had been submitted to the government for approval.

Huajin Tongda Chemicals is a subsidiary of Liaoning Huajin Chemical Group.
