SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s Lanzhou Petrochemical achieved on-spec production of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) at its new 50,000 tonne/year plant around 20 October, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
"We started up last weekend, and now we’ve got on-spec products," the source said.
The new line started a test run in late August and was expected to commence commercial production in mid-September, according to an earlier report, but the official said the commercial production "had been delayed because of high feedstock butadiene cost".
The company, a subsidiary of PetroChina, also operates a 15,000 tonne/year NBR line at the same site in the northwestern province of Gansu. Lanzhou Petrochemical permanently closed a smaller 5,000 tonne/year NBR line at the site.
