HOUSTON (ICIS news)--DuPont is merging its chemical solution and fluoroproducts businesses as part of its plan to streamline its operations, the US-based company said on Thursday.

DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise and DuPont Fluoroproducts would merge into a single unit named DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts, the company said.

The move “builds on DuPont’s announcement August 13 by further streamlining the company from 14 to 13 businesses to capitalise on global growth opportunities, including driving decision-making closer to customers by increasing regional business responsibility and accountability”, the company said.

Gary Spitzer, who was president of DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise, will serve as president of the newly merged business, the company said.

“We are excited about the opportunities for customers and our people as we play to win in this $10bn [€6.6bn] market space,” Spitzer said.

The merger will integrate the company’s fluorine business and will develop new products and technologies, including refrigerants with low global warming potential and next-generation fluoroproducts, DuPont said.
