SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Formosa BP Chemicals (FBPC) plans to restart its 300,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at Mailiao over the weekend after a one-week outage, a company official said on Friday.

“The plant was shut down at the end of last week due to mechanical problems but operations will be restarted over this weekend,” he said. “The impact [on the market] is almost nil because current supply and demand is balanced,” he added.

The plant was operating at full capacity before the outage.

Formosa BP Chemicals (FBPC) is a fifty-fifty joint venture between BP and Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corporation.
