HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US methanol marketer Southern Chemical Corporation (SCC) on Thursday nominated an 8-cent hike for its November North American contracts.

The announcement puts the company’s contract price at 101 cents/gal ($336/tonne, €228/tonne), up from 93 cents/gal in October.

A US Gulf coast (USG) buyer was somewhat surprised by the hike.

“I expected they'd stay below Methanex,” the buyer said.

Canadian producer Methanex nominated its November contract price at 100 cents/gal on 28 October.
