GUANGZHOU (ICIS news)--China’s Kailuan Energy Chemical (KEC) plans to build a 150,000 tonne/year adipic acid (AA) plant and a 60,000 tonne/year polyoxymethylene (POM) plant at Tangshan in the northern province of Hebei early next year, a company official said on Monday.
The project would involve a total investment of around yuan (CNY) 2.92bn ($428m) for the AA unit and around CNY1.92bn for the POM unit, the company said in a statement.
Construction would last 18 months for the AA plant and 26 months for the POM plant, the company official said.
Hydrogenated benzene would be used as the feedstock for the AA plant, while the POM plant would use methanol, the source said, adding that the company would source the feedstocks from its own plants.
KEC is mainly engaged in the production and sales of coal and coal chemicals. It is a listed arm of China’s leading coal producer Kailuan Group.
